SCADA :: What is SCADA?

SCADA stands for "Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition". Each term is explained below.

*Supervisory ~ an abstarcted or removed means of observing something, as distinct from direct or constant observance.

*Control ~ making something (a "system") do things that it would not do by itself.

*And ~ combined with

*Data ~ information, in this case regarding the operations of, and observations made by the system being controlled.

*Acquisition ~ collection of the data as feedback for further control or other purposes.
